Planetree Health Resource Center

Since 2004, Cody Regional Health has subscribed to the Planetree philosophy of patient-centered care. Planetree is an international nonprofit organization that works with health care facilities to help personalize, humanize and demystify the health care experience.

Our commitment to the Planetree philosophy of patient-centered care is reflected in our organization's mission: To provide extraordinary healthcare to those we serve by people who care. The voice of the patient guides Cody Regional Health .

Cody Regional Health is committed to continuously working to improve medical care from the patient's perspective. Ten Planetree components are utilized as guides to promote and create a healing environment for our patients. We believe in making each of these elements an important focus of treatment. Planetree Health Resource Center

Cody Regional Health and the Park County Library System formed a unique partnership in 2008 to create a Planetree Health Resource Center inside the Cody Library. The Health Resource Center is a separate section of the library that houses current, reliable sources of information about health and wellness, including books, pamphlets, journals, DVDs, models and trusted internet sources. By taking advantage of this special section, library users will be able to better understand medical conditions and treatment options and learn more about nutrition, stress, and raising healthy children, among a variety of other health and wellness topics.

The Planetree Health Resource Center is located in the Cody Library and opens during regular library hours:

Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Friday, 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Sunday, 1 to 4 p.m.

Survey of Patient Experiences

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), along with the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), developed the HCAHPS (Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems) Survey, also known as Hospital CAHPS®, to provide a standardized survey instrument and data collection methodology for measuring patients' perspectives on hospital care. The HCAHPS survey is administered to a random sample of patients continuously throughout the year. CMS cleans, adjusts and analyzes the data, then publicly reports the results.

What Patients Are Included

The HCAHPS survey is administered to a random sample of adult patients across medical conditions between 48 hours and six weeks after discharge; the survey is not restricted to Medicare beneficiaries.

Where the information comes from:

  • All short-term, acute care, non-specialty hospitals are invited to participate in the HCAHPS Survey. Over 4,000 hospitals participate in HCAHPS.
  • The goal is for each hospital to get at least 300 completed patient surveys per year. In general, the more patients that respond to the survey, the more the results shown on this website will reflect the experiences of all the patients who used that hospital.
  • HCAHPS survey data must be collected by organizations that are trained by the federal government in HCAHPS data collection procedures. Data submitted to the HCAHPS data warehouse is cleaned, adjusted and analyzed by CMS, which calculates hospitals’ HCAHPS scores and publicly reports them on the Hospital Compare website.
