The American Heart Association's Chain of Survival for cardiac arrest emphasizes the early implementation of effective cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). Because of the high physical demand, American Heart Association guidelines suggest that for chest compressions to be effective, rescuers performing chest compressions should be rotated every two minutes during CPR. The CPR compression device ensures that uninterrupted, effective compressions will continue throughout the rescue effort.
