Diagnostic Imaging in the Big Horn Basin

Radiology is the medical field focused on diagnostic image testing. An imaging test is a procedure where technology is used to obtain a picture or video of the body’s internal structures. X-rays would be an example of imaging, but there are many more tests that provide a more detailed, comprehensive view of the body’s organs and musculoskeletal system.

What Can I Expect During My Imaging Test?

There is not much required on your part to prepare for an imaging test. For some procedures, patients will need to abstain from eating and drinking up to twelve hours before their test. You may also need to hold off on certain medications. The requirements vary depending on the type of test, so make sure you get all the details sorted out with your doctor beforehand.

For many imaging tests, the only thing you need to do is lie still while the test is performed. There are certain procedures where you may be asked to move your body in order to form the imaging device to get a look at all the areas the radiologist needs to complete the test.

When the test is completed the radiologist will review the results and send them to your physician, who will contact you for a review.
